Physical Installation Of A Solidigm™ (Formerly Intel®) Add-In Card Solid State Drive

Instructions To Help Users Install Add-In Cards (AIC) Solid State Drive (SSD)

These instructions help users install Solidigm™ (formerly Intel®) Add-In Card (AIC) Solid State Drive (SSD). They are generalized, see your system/chassis manual for more detailed instructions.

Before you begin:

Disconnect the system from power before connecting/disconnecting cables or components. Some circuitries in the system can operate even if shut off, you risk personal injury or equipment damage otherwise.

Electrostatic discharge (ESD) can damage components. Install the board on an ESD-controlled workstation. If an ESD-controlled workstation is unavailable, wear an anti-static wrist strap or touch the surface of the anti-static package before handling components.

Your motherboard may have multiple PCIe* (Peripheral Component Interconnect Express) slots. Most Solidigm™ (formerly Intel®) AIC require a PCIe* x4 connector.

  • Install PCIe* SSD into connectors A, C, or F.
    • D, E, and H are PCIe* x1
    • B is a PCI
  • We recommend the connector closest to the CPU (F) for the best performance.
    • If using a discrete GPU card, it should be in the closest connector (F).
  • If you experience issues, the connector farthest from the CPU (A) may be more successful.

  1. Locate a proper PCIe* 3.0 connector.
  2. Remove the screw and shield from the chassis.
  3. Attach the proper bracket to your SSD.
  4. Insert the SSD.
  5. Replace the screw to secure the SSD to the chassis.
